“Hello Hangover” is one of the first songs guitarist Dennis Post and I wrote together when we started collaborating on what would be Trading Aces. We recorded a Van Halen cover when Eddie died in 2020, and the theme song for Danish Hell Angels’ affiliate motorcycle club The Devil’s Choice, and we wanted to do more collaborating. Dennis sent me a few ideas, and one of them was the riff that became “Hello Hangover.” No surprise, but I was fairly hung over the day when I first heard the track ,so that state of mind became the inspiration for the lyrics. A year later in summer of 2022, we shot half the video at a club called High Voltage in Copenhagen, and the rest at The Good Bar in Long Beach. I directed it, while my wife Sarah Robinson, daughter Bella, and her partner Evan Reese shot the whole thing. Despite all the drinking and brawling, Trading Aces is a tight knit family operation. Comprised of musicians spanning three different countries, the Aces met during the pandemic, hustlin’ music to survive while the world froze. Featuring members of Warrior Soul, Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs, and The City Kids, the band’s sound is a mix of hard rock, punk, and old school heavy metal, laced with plenty of catchy pop hooks. Think Wildhearts meets Social Distortion. Think Cheap Trick meets Judas Priest. Think AC/DC meets Hanoi Rocks.
