Welsh Rockers RAIDER Release New E.P. 'Tokyo'

Tokyo is the inaugural EP by rock band, Raider. Embracing the sound of 80’s and 90’s hard rock, they capture the dirty street sound of LA’s Sunset Strip and blend it with modern stylings. Recorded and mixed in late 2019 and early 2020, Tokyo is both refreshing and nostalgic and keeps true to the feel of the old school hard rock scene. The EP has received an overwhelmingly positive online reaction and has opened doors to numerous opportunities for the band to bring you more music in the future. Influences for the Album: Danger Danger, Skid Row, Aerosmith, Heavy Pettin, Damn Yankees, Vixen, Heavens Edge, Haywire, Steve Vai. Bio: Born in South Wales, bass player, Jon Hood, had a lifelong ambition of forging a hard rock/glam band that reflected his personal musical passion. This dream would start to take shape when he asked long-time friend, Marc Campbell, to hang out for writing sessions and rehearsals; thus, Raider was born. From that day, the hunt was on to find the rest of the meatheads that would make up the band. After spending some years writing and recording with members coming and going, Raider finally landed lead guitarist, Alun Tomos (formerly, Jon Hood’s university lecturer and music professional). Now, they needed that icing on the proverbial cake - a lead singer that could capture the vocal stylings that Raider needed. Only the best would do. By chance, Marc and Jon discovered Mike Platt on a Facebook video post, singing the hit song “Alone” by Heart, at a band rehearsal. Realising the sheer power of Mike’s voice, they knew they had to recruit him as the permanent vocalist for the band. An engagement party later, where Mike was hired as the entertainment, the band took their chance and approached the singer who agreed to a rehearsal and, ultimately, joined the band after falling head over heels in love with the music. Following on from this, Mike appeared on the Voice UK 2019 where he ended up making it through to the battle-rounds and teaming up with fellow Welsh music icon, Sir Tom Jones. This was to be the highlight of Mike’s career, so far, and a huge stepping stone for the band. Forever moving forward, Raider are currently working on new material in the hope of releasing a full-length album in 2021.
