METALLICA announce release of their 2019 S&M2 shows as a live album and concert film

Last September, Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony reunited for a two-night performance to open San Francisco’s new Chase Center arena with a pair of concerts similar to the two outfit’s collaborative 1999 live album. Those performances were edited into a concert film and screened in select theaters in October for one night only.

On Monday, the famous thrash metal band and the acclaimed symphony announced the forthcoming release of a full concert film and live album box set as captured during the two shows, which has been re-edited and set for release next month on August 28th.

Entitled, S&M2, the live album will include 20 songs (over 2.5 hours of music) from the two-night Chase Center run which also featured a pair of classical pieces hand-picked by San Francisco Symphony Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas. The live album and film will come with completely remixed and remastered audio for a different look and sound than the original theatrical screening in

Fans will have the option to purchase various box set package options for the forthcoming release, including the chance to win the limited S&M2 Super Deluxe Box Set which includes the original sheet music used during the performances signed by all four members of Metallica. The Super Deluxe Box Set also comes with two half/half colored LPs, two half/half splatter colored LPs, an exclusive 28-page book featuring photos by Anton Corbijn, two CDs, a concert film Blu-Ray, five guitar picks, a 24×36 poster, and a digital download.
