John Garcia releasing new album with Band of Gold; Release Video For 'Jim's Whiskers'

Kyuss singer John Garcia has been involved with tons of projects since that band’s demise (like Slo Burn, Unida, and more). More recently, he reunited with his Kyuss bandmates Brant Bjork and Nick Oliveri for the Kyuss Lives! tour which turned into the new band Vista Chino, and since Vista Chino went on hiatus, John has been releasing solo albums. He put out his self-titled solo debut in 2014, followed by The Coyote Who Spoke in Tongues, and now he’s set to release John Garcia And The Band Of Gold on January 4 via Napalm Records (pre-order).
Band of Gold is John plus guitarist Ehren Groban (who played on John’s last two albums), bassist Mike Pygmie (who’s in Nick Oliveri’s band Mondo Generator), and drummer Greg Saenz (Excel, Suicidal Tendencies, The Dwarves). Going by new single “Jim’s Whiskers,” they’re staying true to the type of riffy stoner rock that John made in Kyuss, and John’s still a master at this kind of thing. It sounds like it could’ve come out in 1992, but it’s a ripper in 2018 too. We’re premiering the song’s Kevin Strick & Nate Klein-directed video. Check it out below.
