The Rods set to release "Louder Than Loud" in 2018

The new year is off to an awesome start – with Steamhammer/SPV having signed the legendary metal band THE RODS! The group consists of original members David "Rock" Feinstein (guitar, vocals), Carl Canedy (drums) and Garry Bordonaro (bass). THE RODS have always delivered a classic brand of metal and hard rock with strong influences that date back to the 1970s. Drummer Carl Canedy says: "The 3rd time's a charm!" After two unsuccessful attempts, to work with Olly Hahn and Steamhammer/SPV , it's finally happening. The Rods have signed a worldwide deal for their brand new album "Louder Than Loud". This album, in my opinion, has some of the strongest Rods material in years. The title says it all!" Olly Hahn, A&R and International Product Manager at Steamhammer/SPV, is thrilled: “I remember when I saw an ad for the album "Wild Dogs" in a German magazine back in 1982. I immediately had to have the album although I had no idea what I could expect music-wise. The cover was so awesome and when I put the album on my turntable I was blown away. Now 35 years later it's fantastic to say the following sentence: We’re proud and happy to welcome THE RODS to our big Steamhammer family!” THE RODS are a classic heavy metal trio that rocked their way through the 80's with classic albums like "The Rods", "Wild Dogs" and "In The Raw" with a powerful, raw energy that led them on tours with some of today's greatest metal bands - Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Metallica, to name just a few. The new album "Louder Than Loud" is scheduled to be released in 2018

Rods are an American heavy metal band formed by David "Rock" Feinstein (guitar and vocals), Garry Bordonaro (bass and vocals) and Carl Canedy (drums and vocals). Feinstein had first come to mainstream attention after playing in Ronnie Dio And The Prophets, The Electric Elves, Elves and Elf, with his cousin Ronnie James Dio. The Rods sound differed considerably from Elf, adopting a more traditional heavy metal sound compared with the blues-rock sound that Elf preferred. Their first album was originally released independently as Rock Hard in 1980 and the following year the band was signed by Arista Records, who rerecorded the album tracks and released it simply titled The Rods. Their second album Wild Dogs followed in 1982 and was re-released in 2004. The Rods' third album, released 1983, was entitled In the Raw In 1984 Canedy and Bordonaro played on Jack Starr's album Out of the Darkness with Rhett Forrester of Riot and Gary Driscoll of Rainbow. Then in 1984 The Rods made their fourth studio album Let Them Eat Metal and recorded the album The Rods Live. Their album Heavier Than Thou was originally released in 1986. An album was also released that features all of the band's members, entitled Hollywood - Canedy, Feinstein, Bordonaro, & Caudle. Canedy is also a producer of heavy metal bands, and his credits include Anthrax's Armed and Dangerous and Spreading the Disease, Exciter's Violence & Force, Overkill's Feel the Fire, and Possessed's Beyond the Gates * Rock Hard (1980) * The Rods (1981) * Wild Dogs (1982) * In The Raw (1983) * The Rods Live (1984) * Let Them Eat Metal (1984) * Heavier Than Thou (1986) * Hollywood Project (1986) - as Canedy, Feinstein, Bordonaro, & Caudle * Vengeance (2011)
