On this day in 1973 - Paul "Ace" Frehley

On this day in 1973, a young musician by the name of Paul "Ace" Frehley auditioned to play guitar in a band called Wicked Lester. After seeing an ad in the Village Voice for a lead guitarist with "flash and ability," Ace showed up that day wearing different colored sneakers in an effort to prove that he fit the bill. Despite being unimpressed with his visual appearance, Ace's playing convinced the band that they had found the right man for the job (they reportedly jammed to "Deuce" during the session). Shortly thereafter, the foursome officially changed their name to KISS.
