Doro - Concert Review @ Token Lounge Detroit, MI September 12th

I’ve been lucky enough to see a ton of live shows in 2017, from Metallica to Cheap Trick, Steelheart to Anthrax and probably another 40 or so 80’s metal bands thrown in for good measure, but for my money the most satisfying rock show of the year so far was none other than the Metal Queen Doro Pesch!

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the “Triumph And Agony” album, Doro played the Token Lounge in Detroit,MI September 12th, 2017.The 3rd show of a short five date run in the USA. Playing the album in its entirety, with original Warlock guitarist Tommy Bolan back in the fold for the anniversary tour.

”Touch Of Evil" kicks things off, and right out of the gate the band is on fire! "I Rule The Ruins" and "East Meets West" had the crowd with their fist in the air and singing along. Following this up with the songs “3 Minute Warning”,’Kiss of Death” and “ the classic “Fur Immer” after Tommy’s guitar solo the band was back to finish out the tracks from “ Triumph and Agony” ending it with the crowd favorite “All We Are” with everyone in the building singing along. At this point Doro took request from the crowd on what to play next, and the band proceeded to thrill us with blistering renditions of “Burning The Witches” “Night of the Warlock” , “We Are the MetalHeads” and more! Ending the night with a brilliant cover of the Judas Priest classic “Breaking the Law”

Doro has a killer band featuring Johnny Dee ( Britny Fox/Waysted) on drums. He beat the hell out of his drums all night and is a great showman . Nick Douglas on bass, that dude is a madman and one hell of a performer. Rounded out by Luca Princiotta and Tommy Bolan on guitars both great guitarist and live performers.

Doro is easily the most fan friendly performer I’ve ever seen. Fist bumping and slapping hands with everyone in reach all night long. She would lean on the shoulder of the people in the front row to reach out to the people in the second and third rows, holding the mic out to the crowd to sing along. It’s easy to tell she loves what she’s doing 30 years on and still owning the stage in every possible way! She has a way of making the whole crowd feel as one……and we believe she’s just like us when she says…….. We Are the Metal Heads!
