The Comerica Park show will mark Metallica’s first performance in Detroit since the group brought its 2013 Orion Music + More Festival to Belle Isle. The July 12 concert falls during Major League Baseball’s All-Star break. The Detroit Tigers host the San Francisco Giants on July 6, and don’t play at Comerica Park until the Toronto Blue Jays visit town on July 14.
Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat will open the Detroit show.
